The name “Mold-Masters” was chosen to reflect the desire to build an organization of skilled craftsmen who would be the “masters” of their trade. A “hot-runner” is a highly engineered, customized product that distributes plastic resin to individual cavities within a mold - it increases productivity and improves the quality of the part.
Transitioned into the second generation of the family owned business, Mold-Masters is following company president Jonathon Fischer’s vision of being a “Global manufacturer with Regional support”. With the highest R&D expenditure in the industry (between 6 -10%), the most technologically advanced products (over 1600 patents pending and received), today the company is the only one in it’s industry to manufacture globally, with facilities in Canada, USA, Germany, Japan, Brazil and China. Under the vision and leadership of Jonathon Fischer, Mold-Masters became the worlds first company to provide collaborative e-Business ERP/CAD/Internet solutions, a patent application was filed - Title "Method & Apparatus for an Automated Injection Molding Configuring & Manufacturing System", Inventor: Jonathon Fischer, U.S. application June 16, 2000, German application August 22, 2000 and a PCT on June 18, 2001. “Patent was granted in June 2003”. Ensuring the company remains on the forefront, further development was done in 2001 and Mold-Masters was awarded the “Innovative Mobile CRM Solution” award at the eCustomer World awards held on October 10th, 2001. The annual award honors innovative e-business Customer Relationship Management. The winning solution, implemented at Mold-Masters in August 2001, is called InfoMessengerTM and provides access to Mold-Masters’ SAP business system through any authorized e-mail enabled device. This revolutionary interaction is completely automated, whereby a request for information is e-mailed to the Mold-Masters’ InfoMessengerTM, the request is automatically fed into the business system for processing. The resulting information is then packaged and automatically e-mailed back to the requestor. The entire process is instant.
Among the many milestones that Mold-Masters has surpassed since it opened in 1963, under Jonathon Fischer’s commitment to continuous improvement, Mold-Masters also became the first Hot Runner Manufacturer in the world to gain the coveted International ISO 9001 quality accreditation, the highest of the three ISO Levels. This gives Mold-Masters customers a quantifiable method of evaluating our quality commitment and systems relative to their competitors, whether they operate in Europe, North America, or the Far East. Today this has been further expanded with the implementation of Six Sigma.
Mold-Masters has targeted customers that are the #1 or #2 in their particular market. Keeping and maintaining the #1 or #2 position in market share requires three key elements. … Technology, speed to market, and the lowest manufacturing costs. These are area’s which President Jonathon Fischer has kept the company focused. The R&D team with 31 people solely dedicated to Research & Development is the largest in the industry. In 2000 a new delivery program under the direction of Fischer was introduced, it became the worlds “Fastest Delivery Program”. Product design, engineering and manufacturing process flow was redesigned allowing product to be delivered in 5 days as opposed to a traditional 4-6 weeks. Even throughout the past year when other competitors were struggling with sales drops as low as –30% to –40%, Mold-Masters was able to grow in North America while maintaining margins.

Jonathon Fischer is well known in the town of Halton Region. Not just because he is the president of Mold-Masters Limited, but mostly for his commitment to the community. As chair of the “Local-Motion” campaign, Jonathon Fischer has helped raise millions of dollars to help build a much needed recreation centre and community centre in Halton.
Mold-Masters, its employees, and the family have made considerable donations to the community’s local charities such as the Georgetown Hospital Foundation. Jonathon Fischer served as a member of the Board of Directors for Skills Canada, and was a major Sponsor of SWAP (Student Workplace Apprenticeship Program). This program encouraged young men and women to enter skilled trades.
